One Last Round Before Winter
Hello, Stuffie Friends!
We are so lucky that our friend Vullnet came for a visit from Kosovo! We didn’t waste any time breaking out the special snacks in celebration. Since we know he’s always up for a new adventure, we suggested a round of golf. (Fall is a great time for gathering acorns but it’s the last time you can really get out on the turf before the snow sets in.) Turns out there’s a miniature golf course on the roof of the Walker Art Museum! We thought that was perfect. Still really fun, but less walking involved.
As you can see, this is not an ordinary course. They had artists design sculptures that look like all sorts. The hole above is a gardening theme. Those trowels and shovels were everywhere. Some holes were really unusual … well, see for yourself!
This next one is hard to describe. We think it was supposed to be a crab? Or a sunflower? It was really bouncy and super fun. We each took a spot on the webbing and had a lot of laughs.
We were at the next hole for quite a while. We kept trying to use the golf clubs in their usual way. We finally figured out that you can’t stand on the pool table and hold the club upright to putt. You have to turn the club around and use the shaft like a pool stick!
We rooted on Vullnet to make this putt. He did!
The next hole was a dome that was super tricky. You had to hit the ball just hard enough to get over the lip but not go over the top. Dan had a hard time… Flambee stopped counting putts after 10!
For the next one, you had to hit the ball just right so it would go up and around the obstacle on the arc. The turtles did an incredible job getting in the way.
We saved our favorite hole for last. It was amazing! It would have been better if you’d won hot dogs or french fries when you got the ball in. We had many chances to get pictures of the shots- there were many! Somehow Vullent was able to putt past the french fries and bounce off the hot dog to end up in the hole. We’re still not sure exactly how he did it.
All in all, it was fun to try mini golf. We’re looking forward to playing more next year. Maybe we can find a course that has a golf cart. (That, and more snacks, are the only things getting in the way of it being the best thing of all time.) We stopped by Dan’s favorite restaurant after the round. We were surprised to see a gaggle of turkeys outside the Finnish Bistro looking for food. Glad we were inside so our food was safe!
We think this is the end of our golf adventures for the year. Now we have to check out tournaments on TV as we eat snacks in the comfort of the apartment.
