Meet our Newest Friend!
Guten Tag! Grüße Freunde. I’d like to introduce myself. Ich heiße Ober. Ich wohne in Oberammergau, Germany. I first met Scottie and friends at a fountain in Freiburg, where I was visiting some of my cousins. I told them we needed to travel to my hometown. It is famous for woodcarving and for the Passion Play we’ve done every 10 years since 1634! It’s very helpful that I speak both German and English, since my new friends couldn’t read any of the signs.
First, I took them to the top of the mountain where the Passion Play is performed.
The next part of the trip was to the famous Neuschwanstein Castle. We were told this is the castle that Disney uses in their famous amusement parks. Guess we need to go there soon so we can verify this report!
The views were amazing and, even though the castles were closed, we enjoyed the fresh mountain air.
We spent the next day wandering around my town. We found some tour guides who were architectural experts. They were very friendly and knowledgeable. It was a little confusing how much they knew about my local sights since they were from Spain. They must be pretty well-traveled!
Our new tour guides had another commitment after lunch. Luckily, this guy was available to show us around the best sights.
Franz is an expert in woodcarving. He knew where all the most interesting statues could be found. Like this cute gnome.
And Little Hedgie’s new BFF the rabbit…
Ferdinand got a kick out of being a bull riding an elephant. He said it was a fun and smooth ride and we should all try it sometime. I’m a little afraid of elephants, myself, so I said “Maybe next time.”
One fun event was the moving puppet display. We all enjoyed it, but none so much as Flambe. He challenged our new friends to a race. He flew in circles so much that he eventually got dizzy and fell over. Don’t worry- he’s okay now.
We went for ice cream after that. Everything is better when you get to have ice cream. And with cones this size, there’s more than enough for everyone.
See you soon!
