A Trip to the Baltics

Hello, Stuffie Friends! You might remember we did some construction work in Ireland recently. We used the cash to travel over to the Baltics. Our vacation started in Latvia and our timing was impeccable. We arrived just in time for tea and cookies!

Now that is the way to start a vacation! Our lodging, on the other hand, made us work before we could relax. Our room in Riga was on the 4th floor with “only” 72 steps up to our place! Of course, Amelia let i be know that the steps were not a problem. She just flew up and down.

Luckily, we were set up with a very luxurious bed- exclusively for us!

We slept really well on our cozy bed. We’re also here to tell you that it’s very bounceable. Our morning trampoline routine woke us right up! And, while jumping up and down, we came up with the plan to slide up & down the banister, saving us from all future stair climbs.

On our first walk (we did about 6 miles a day), we passed by a park where people were shooting arrows at targets. Some of them were pretty good at archery. Sadly, we weren’t allowed to try because we are too small!  Maybe someone will make us a tiny archery set to try this out.

Our walk took us on lots of cobblestone streets and past some beautiful buildings. We passed many cafes and people enjoying the beautiful weather. Unfortunately, we couldn’t persuade any of the people to share their lunch with us.

We found a museum that was actually a former castle. There were some great statues outside (you can see the lion and I at the top of this post). Flambee noticed a statue of a long-lost relative. He didn’t venture too close because the knight had a pretty big sword.

Inside the museum it got really exciting. We found some old cannons used to protect the castle. They aren’t used anymore for defense. But they were very fun for us (and kids) to climb on!

Outside of the museum there was a HUGE sign (see if you can find us for scale) to welcome visitors. We weren’t sure why the giant dog wasn’t barking at us to say hello. After trying many things to start a conversation, we finally figured out that it was a statue of a dog.

Down the street from the museum there was another park. We loved seeing this friend- how cute is this? It’s a basketball mascot. Apparently the week after we visited, it was the start of a 3- week European Basketball championship. We were sad to miss the event, but at least we got a picture!

At the end of the day, which was very warm, we were treated to a scoop of ice cream - delicious! They had stands all around town so we scouted out the one that didn’t have a line… we were not disappointed !

More to come soon from Lithuania & Prague!
