Art Inspires Us All

We got a special invite to go to a Senior art exhibit at Great River School. We expected fancy snacks and special drinks… and for cheese cubes on sticks to be circulating freely. We were pretty upset when none of that happened. Apparently we were meant to focus on the art?

To be fair to them, the artwork was pretty cool. We were able to play in this one with twigs and stones… hopefully he didn’t see us move anything!

The most notable piece was this huge multi-textured piece called Northwoods. Not only did the artist paint the whole scene, but he used nails and yarn for the sky and water. You can see how small we are at the top!

And then we got some bad news. Apparently these gorgeous pieces of pottery are made specifically to hold snacks and candy. There just wasn’t any inside!

Just before we left the show, they laid out a gigantic table of food for everyone. There were snacks, brownies, cookies, more snacks, veggies, and more snacks. It was so crowded around the table that Dan had to sneak us several servings. We might have gotten stepped on otherwise. It was a wonderful art show. And the food was even better!

We mentioned where we’d been to the front desk worker at our apartment. She told us there was incredible photography placed all around our building. We discovered some amazing shots! (That’s photography speak for a picture.)

That skater reminded us of our friends’ post about the Winter Olympics. We went in search of some other events, in case we can get into the Summer Games. (Year-round fun is always better.) Diving seems like it might be great for some of our bird friends. Penne would be especially good at it, since he’s always diving underwater looking for food. Scottie offered to compete and then remembered he can’t swim… yet!

We were intrigued by these long oars and people in this picture.

Turns out they’re part of a rowing team. One of them is the coxswain, who sits in the boat and shouts at everyone to keep them on pace. We all agreed that’s the perfect job for Scottie!

You’ll hear from us again very soon. We’re already making plans for summer!
