Spring is Here- Bring on the Snacks!

Hello, Stuffie Friends!

It’s Scottie here. We don’t know if this happened to you, but we got stuck in our Apartment for what seemed like forever during some recent snowstorms. We decided to head somewhere warm. Luckily, we knew just the place- the Arboretum!

It also gave us a chance to find and rescue some friends that have been missing since the Flower Show. (Sometimes people can take Hide and Seek a little too far.) Dan had been spending a lot of time looking for them, so he was especially glad to see them.

Great news! We found our friends and also some incredible smells. We followed our noses to the cafe, where we discovered that Maple Fest was happening. “What is Maple Fest?” you ask. Well, it’s an amazing day where they serve pancakes with special maple syrup (made from trees at the Arboretum).

There are delicious sides like sausage, coffee, and juice. And, even better, a BIG bowl of chocolate chips to top your pancakes. We stopped to do some quality control before the chocolate disappeared. (Don’t worry- it was delicious!)

Maple Fest is a big fundraiser to help pay for things.  As you can see, there’s a ginormous crowd with lots of tables filled with guests. Everyone was excited for these delicious treats!

Dan was feeling especially generous today and got us our own plate- thanks! Flambé doesn’t like pancakes and took care of eating all the sausage.

And someone had to be sure no syrup was wasted. Sounds like a job for this squirrel!

We stopped in the Gift Shop to check out the pancake mix for sale. Sounds like a trip to the store for some ingredients is in order!

Luckily, there’s a grocery store within a short walk of our apartment. We made sure to include lots of bananas. We all love them!

And this is a “must-stop”. I’m really an expert at selecting the best nut mixture. This time it was Cashews, peanuts, walnuts, and almonds. Mmm-hmm. Can’t wait to get home and start snacking!

We stopped for a social visit with our friends who live here. They must have a pretty great life. They sleep all day (with some occasional cuddles) and then roam freely after hours eating all the snacks they want!

They reminded us to visit the best aisle (just around the corner). Candy everywhere!

We couldn’t convince Dan to buy any but we knew that Marial would come through. She always makes sure we’re looked after. Today it was black licorice- one of our favorites.

We were excited to see some kids fishing on our walk home. We couldn’t wait to tell Amelia, Loonie, and Penne that the lake was open! (Don’t mind all that ice- it’s going to be in the 70’s any day now.)

We sure hope you can come visit this summer to enjoy the lake and, of course, all the dogs that live here. Happy Spring!

-Scottie, Ferdinand, Gràineag, and Flambé
