The Go-To Gang

Hello, Stuffie Friends!

We got a desperate call from friends in Ohio saying they needed help with a move. They said we were first on their list due to our tremendous record and 5 Star Ratings. And our landlords, Dan and Marial, already had a trip planned, so they didn’t even have to pay us for travel!

Our first task was a visit with their adorable dogs, Luke and Leia. Next, we had to guard the Meow Mix from the two cats. We were having a terrific time playing with them… until we were reminded we were there to work and not play.

We didn’t much time because we had to get straight to work. One important job we had was to tape the boxes shut. We almost taped Ferdinand inside a box, but luckily someone spotted him in time. Whew!

We got that job done quickly, so we switched to supervising and made sure everyone else stayed busy. As you can see, some people tried to impress us with their muscles and charm. We smiled and told them they were wasting valuable time. (We knew them too well to be impressed!)

An important part of moving is putting together piles from each room. That way, when you unload it goes to the right place and you don’t waste time.

Eventually, everything was ready to move to the truck. The most challenging item to lift was the humongous bed mattress and box springs. We tried picking up one corner but had no luck. We found some pretty strong people to do it instead and we just moved out of their way!

One of the most exciting things in the move was this “Cat Stand”- apparently it’s a playground to keep cats (and Stuffies) from being bored. We were sad when it was time to move it into the truck.

As you can see, they was a lot of furniture and needed a big truck. Good thing we were there to keep it organized so only one trip had to be made.

Some furniture needed to be assembled once we got to the new place. The most important one (in our humble opinion) was the dining room table. First and foremost, we had to ensure they had all the right tools, especially hammers and screw drivers. Thankfully, they great tool box that Dan made a few years ago. Everything we needed was in one place.

Scottie wanted to show he could use the drill but Don insisted that it was trickier than it looks. You have to align the screws with the existing holes instead of just drilling new ones. Thanks to our watchful eyes, especially Monte’s, it turned out perfectly!

At one point, we couldn’t find the cats and we were very concerned. Suddenly, we heard a strange noise from behind a closed door! Apparently, they were moved into the bathroom so they would run out the front door with all the chaos happening. Probably a good idea- who knows where they would have gone?

Finally everything was moved in and reassembled. We had earned our wages, for sure! We were treated to a great meal of roasted corn, some of Don’s famous brisket, a fantastic potato salad, mac & cheese…

…And, of course, red wine!

Jacques said he drank a lot of wine when he lived in France. He opted for some kind of mixed drink. He liked it okay but said he may go back to wine next time!

Well, that’s about all from Ohio. We need to rest up and wait for the next call. Let us know if you need help relocating. If you feed us, we will come! (Of course, we’ll be even happier if you feed us and pay us.)

Hope your summer has as much fun as ours. Two moves in a few months with two five-star ratings- amazing!

-Scottie, Amelia, Flambé, Jacques, Gràineag, Monte, and Ferdinand.
